A
university placement student
has raised over £700 for a North
Belfast suicide prevention group
by completing a sponsored wall,
around the Waterworks.
Emma
Mallon from Orchardville in
West Belfast is on a St Mary's
University College placement
with the Public initiative for
the Prevention of Suicide and
Self Harm (PIPS). Emma is under
taking a liberal arts and physical
education degree. The former
St Genevieve's student was joined
on her walk by nearly 40 volunteers
from PIPS and her netball friends
from Westside Ladies. She decided
to hold the walk, which took
place o April 5, to raise money
for PIPS because it is such
a worthwhile cause.
"I
decided to do something that
would raise awareness about
the importance of your mental
health and bring physical activity
into it all at the same time,"
she said.
